Can you ride a horse while on your period?

Yes, absolutely.

There is no medical reason that would prevent you from horseback riding, equestrian activities, horse archery, or traveling on an expedition.

What changes is your personal comfort.

And that’s something we can organize around.

Some women say they don’t feel much difference.

Others find the first and second days more uncomfortable.

Others prefer to take it easier during this time.
All experiences are valid.

The real questions we ask ourselves

1. Can I handle 5 to 7 hours in the saddle?

Yes. But if you prefer shorter riding days during this time, that’s possible.

Our itineraries are flexible. If you let me know before departure, we can agree to:

  • Reduce riding hours on certain days (5-6 hours instead of 8)
  • Plan more breaks
  • Focus on easier, less technical routes

You won’t miss out on the experience, just a gentler approach for your body.

2. What about hygiene products?

I prepare a supply of tampons, pads, and menstrual products before each expedition.

You can also bring your preferred brands (which we recommend, because you know your body best).

We have private spaces/shower tents to change comfortably without stress in the camps we are setting up, also sitting toilets for camping that we bring on purpose (appreciated from other ladies’ experiences).

No judgment, zero awkwardness: it’s normal and it’s handled

3. Will I feel self-conscious in a group?

In our expeditions, there’s a natural culture of support.

Women share tips, men respect breaks and the need for comfort.

We don’t make a big deal out of it, but we respect it.

If you need some alone time, that’s okay too.

4. What about clothing?

Good news: standard riding pants work fine. You don’t need anything special.

What really matters is wearing comfortable clothing: not too tight around the belly, ideally seamless pants.

5. What if I need to take medication (painkillers, etc.)?

Bring what helps you. We’ll keep it safe and accessible. No questions asked.

If you have specific needs (migraines, chronic pain, etc.), mention it when you book.

We prepare accordingly.

How we prepare together

Before booking

When you reserve an expedition, I ask you a few simple questions in private (by email or DM).

During our exchanges, you can share if you want:

  • Your approximate cycle (if you know it)
  • Your menstrual preferences (tampons, pads, cup, other)
  • If you have any particular sensitivities
  • Whether you prefer a “low-key” approach or if you want us to adapt activities

Zero judgment. Just information to welcome you properly.

During the expedition

  • Flexible timing: If you need extra breaks, we take them
  • Rest options: A less intense day? We can do that. A full night of rest at camp? It’s possible.
  • Alternative activities: Photography, easy riding, yoga/stretching at camp, writing, rest
  • Discreet support: If I notice you’re uncomfortable, I’ll suggest adjustments without putting you on the spot

Afterwards

Many women tell me after the expedition: “I was worried for nothing. It went really well.” and it’s also about mindset.

Based on past expeditions and feedback, additional infrastructures were added into our support vehicles eg camping toilets and privacy options.

The feedback from our guests is precious and they serve future guests, so feel free to share yours.

Still hesitating?

Ask your questions. Really, any question at all. That’s why we’re talking about it.

You can reach me on Instagram (
@jaincie) or by email and I’ll respond personally and honestly.

And if you decide it’s not the right timing, that’s okay. We’ll find another date, another expedition. No pressure.

But I also know that afterwards, many women regret worrying. So: come. You’re going to surprise yourself.
