THE BIRTH COUNTRY OF HORSEBACK ARCHERY

Into the Cradle of
Nomadic Horsemanship

Mongolia is one of the last places on Earth where the horse remains inseparable from everyday life. Its horse culture is among the oldest continuous riding traditions in the world.
Across vast steppes and open horizons, riding is learned in childhood, passed down through families, and woven into identity, movement, and survival.

This expedition offers a rare opportunity to ride in the open steppe alongside real nomadic families who still depend on their horses daily.

Riding the Open Steppe

Riding through the Orkhon Valley means crossing one of Mongolia’s most storied landscapes.
This lush valley is a vast, open landscape recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
It has been a center of movement and power for centuries, home to ancient capitals, sacred sites, and seasonal migration routes.

What to expect:
– Long, flowing rides across open steppe
– UNESCO-listed Orkhon Valley from the saddle
– Daily life with nomadic families, share time in gers, observe herding routines, and experience authentic Mongolian hospitality and milk tea
– Small, resilient horses bred Mongolian horses in their natural environment
– A different riding philosophy as you learn to ride with lighter contact, greater trust, and attention to the horse’s reading of terrain.
– Minimal infrastructure, maximum immersion
